President Donald Trump will join FIFA President Gianni Infantino in presenting the 2026 FIFA World Cup trophy to the winning team, the soccer organization's leader said June 23, highlighting the close relationship the two have cultivated ahead of the tournament final.

Infantino confirmed the plans during an interview on “Fox & Friends,” saying he and Trump will present the trophy together to the winning captain following the July 19 final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

"We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together," Infantino said.

As Zeale News reported, Infantino has frequently praised Trump, awarded him FIFA's inaugural Peace Prize in December 2025, and appeared alongside him at several events, including last year's Club World Cup.

According to ESPN, the joint presentation marks a departure from the two most recent World Cup tournaments, in which the FIFA president alone presented the trophy. Infantino handed the trophy to the winning captains after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2018 tournament in Russia.

Heads of state have participated in World Cup trophy presentations in the past. King Juan Carlos of Spain presented the trophy to Italy captain Dino Zoff following the 1982 World Cup, while Queen Elizabeth II handed it to England captain Bobby Moore after England's victory in 1966.

Trump also joined Infantino in presenting the trophy after Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final in New Jersey last year, handing the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James.
