Scott Adams announces intent to convert to Christianity amid terminal illness: ‘Between me and Jesus’

Scott Adams, creator of the long-running Dilbert comic strip, made a deeply personal announcement on Jan. 4 during his podcast Real Coffee with Scott Adams: He plans to convert to Christianity before he dies.

Adams, who has spent much of his public life identifying as a skeptic or non-believer, said his decision comes after years of encouragement from Christian friends and followers, especially in light of his terminal prostate cancer diagnosis, which has now metastasized to his bones.

"So you’re going to hear for the first time today that it is my plan to convert," Adams stated during the episode. "I still have time, but my understanding is you’re never too late."

His reasoning echoes the philosophical argument of Pascal’s Wager, acknowledging the asymmetry of spiritual risk and reward.

“If it turns out that there’s nothing there, I’ve lost nothing … but if it turns out that there is something there, and the Christian model is the closest to it, I win,” Adams explained.

Adams has been candid about his health decline since announcing his cancer publicly in May 2025. He recently revealed that the disease has left him paralyzed from the waist down due to a spinal tumor, and that he sees this month as potentially his “month of transition.”

In a post on X, Adams wrote, “What happens next is between me and Jesus.”
