Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, a Catholic and a pro-life speaker, has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026. The announcement came during the NFL Honors event held Feb. 5 in San Francisco.

Kuechly, 34, enters the hall in his second year of eligibility, becoming one of the youngest modern-era inductees. He joins quarterback Drew Brees, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, placekicker Adam Vinatieri, and running back Roger Craig in the five-member class. The induction ceremony is scheduled for August in Canton, Ohio.

A product of Jesuit education, Kuechly attended St. Xavier High School, a Catholic boys' school in Cincinnati, where he was a two-time All Greater Catholic League (GCL) selection, in Cincinnati's Greater Catholic League, a competitive conference of Catholic high schools. Kuechly helped lead the high school’s team to a state championship. He went on to Boston College, another Jesuit institution, earning consensus All-America honors and setting school records before being selected ninth overall by the Panthers in the 2012 NFL draft.

Over an eight-year NFL career spent entirely with Carolina, Kuechly earned seven Pro Bowl selections, seven All-Pro nods (including five first-team), and the 2013 Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2010s and helped the Panthers reach Super Bowl 50.

In interviews over the years, Kuechly has spoken about the influence of his Catholic upbringing and education on his performance as an athlete.

Kuechly has also supported Catholic pro-life efforts by speaking at the 2025 annual banquet of Room At The Inn, a Catholic maternity shelter in Greensboro, North Carolina. The organization provides resources to unhoused pregnant women and single mothers, helping them choose life for their unborn children.
